From the desk of Saint Petersblog:

“I just can’t believe we are losing to this guy!”

How often over the last decade have we heard this complaint out of the mouth of a Democratic candidate.

“I just can’t believe we are losing to this guy!”

This is how Al Gore felt about George W. Bush and he showed it when he sighed and neighed like a horse during the 2000 presidential debates. It’s how John Kerry felt about President Bush in 2004. It’s how the anti-war, MoveOn.org crowd feels about every Republican.

“I just can’t believe we are losing to this guy!”

And this is how the under-prepared, over-confident Alex Sink feels about Rick Scott and it has shown in all of the gubernatorial debates. And it’s how Sink’s advisor Brian May felt about Rick Scott and HE JUST HAD TO show how smart he was by trying to sneak in a message — despite being the guy who insisted that no messages be sent to the candidates during the debate (May presumably insisted on this so that Scott’s advisors couldn’t help him).

“I just can’t believe Alex Sink is losing to Rick Scott!”

This is what every Democratic operative in the state has been saying since the primary. Not Alex Sink is the best choice for Governor. Just she’s better than Rick Scott and fuck you if you don’t understand that.

If Alex Sink loses on Tuesday (which prompts me to ask if there is another instance in which a husband and wife have both lost elections for the same office), it will be because she has run an under-prepared, over-confident campaign. …

Read the rest of Peter’s rant here. (Unless you’re Karen Thurman, in which case you might want to wait until you’ve had a few drinks.)
